Our story began in the corridors of an institution devoted entirely to IELTS. Although we worked in different roles, we were brought together by a shared passion: we were idealistic, determined and curious, and we wanted to go a little further every day and give our students the very best. That is why the questions of how a student learns best, and what makes a good curriculum and a good teacher, were never far from our minds.
Over time, these questions became observations, and those observations became a clear vision. In 2019, the foundations of a new school were laid within a framework designed by our co-founder Cemre Işık: a school that puts the student at the centre, makes progress measurable and delivers IELTS teaching of the highest quality.
At the heart of this vision was our curriculum. Over the years, we observed closely where Turkish-speaking students struggle in English and which habits hold their scores back. We turned this experience into an original academic curriculum, which we continue to enrich by following developments in the field and changes to the exam. Today, every one of our programmes is designed as a step within this curriculum.
When the pandemic brought the world to a standstill in 2020, we kept putting our method to the test. Our co-founder Mo Gulam, who spent that period in England, took our approach fully online and worked with students from many different language backgrounds, from China to Russia and from Germany to Kazakhstan. The result was unmistakable: a carefully designed, strategic curriculum pays off wherever in the world a student happens to be. Moren Akademi was founded on this experience in 2021.
After the pandemic, our students discovered the flexibility that online learning brought to their lives; the hours lost in traffic and the sessions missed on a rainy day were left behind. In 2022, we moved to a fully online model so that every student could take part in sessions as effectively as possible. With this change, we reduced our class size from six to four and developed our report system, so that we can give every student equal attention throughout each session and follow their progress step by step.
Today, we meet students from every corner of Türkiye and from around the world, from Canada to the UK and from Italy to the USA, in the same live online sessions.
