The programme's approach
Strategy, speed and production.
6.0
“Competent user” on the IELTS scale: a candidate who uses fairly complex language effectively, particularly in familiar situations.
IELTS Express is the intensive exam programme that takes candidates with a B2 foundation to a target of 6.0 or 6.5. On the IELTS scale, 6.0 describes the “Competent” level: a candidate who can use fairly complex language effectively, particularly in familiar situations. This range is among the most common requirements for postgraduate study, migration and professional applications.
The programme is built on two 40-hour modules: Listening–Speaking and Reading–Writing. In each module, the skills are paired so that they reinforce each other: ideas gathered while listening feed into speaking, and structures noticed while reading are carried into writing.
The aim is not simply to answer questions, but to develop, in a measurable way, the decision-making, time management and quality of production that the exam demands. Criteria such as the weighting of Task 2 in Writing and fluency and coherence in Speaking are at the centre of every session. Reading and Writing preparation is tailored to Academic or General Training, depending on the candidate's test type.
